Greentree Good Neighbor Fund Grants
In July 2003, the Greentree Foundation, founded by the late Mrs. John Hay Whitney of Manhasset, established the "Greentree Good Neighbor Fund" at the Manhasset Community Fund. This fund is allocated by MCF to local organizations addressing priority needs in the Town of North Hempstead. Since its founding, the Greentree Foundation has made annual donations totaling over $1,000,000 to this generous community-based program.
These Good Neighbor Fund grants are in addition to, and completely separate from, MCF's ongoing traditional support of local Manhasset-based organizations. Proposals submitted for Good Neighbor grants are evaluated by a subcommittee of MCF, which analyzes, interviews and deliberates the unique merits of each Good Neighbor Fund applicant in view of the grant preference area.
Current Good Neighbor Fund grant submission guidelines and application procedures may be obtained by calling MCF at 516-627-3850.
Other Grants
From time to time, MCF receives requests for emergency short-term or one-time grants. Subject to approval by a committee vote, the Board may award such grants as circumstances permit.
